In the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI’s) innovation series white paper “Respectful Management of Serious Clinical Adverse Events, support for the “second victim” is underlined as an often-overlooked – but pivotally important – component of crisis management. In this ”roll-up-your-sleeves” web-based program conducted by Medically Induced Trauma Support Services (MITSS) and IHI, participants will learn methods to support their peers after an adverse clinical event.
During three web-based sessions, Building a Clinician Peer Support Program factulty will engage and instruct participants so that by the close of the program, each team will have the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to support and train their peers in this crucial endeavor. Group participation is encouraged, as this seminar will discuss implementing a successful support program and engaging the full clinical team.
