Quality Improvement Training in Medical Education
This BMJ Quality & Safety editorial comments on two accompanying articles that propose “how medical educators and quality-improvement specialists can help trainees learn to be agents of change while balancing the need to preserve the traditional values of medical education.” One article introduces the Lean methodology as one way for residents to gain QI experience, noting the IHI white paper on Comparing Lean and Quality Improvement that identifies similarities and differences between the two approaches.
